"Click the r"

"Click the r" is a term often used by NeuCart Support. Often when store owners are configuring their store, they will report that "I changed X but it the changes aren't displayed." The answer is for the store owner to "click the r" at the bottom of the screen (in the text Cart technology...) to refresh the local browser cache.

Why

Like most e-commerce solutions, NeuCart is a database-driven application. Everything from products to configuration options to text on the page is stored in the database. If every page load made a request to the database for all these settings, the database could become overloaded and the application would be slow.

To eliminate redundant requests on each page load, NeuCart stores much of the configuration in the cache for a browser. When a change is made to some settings (Display Preferences, Checkout Preferences, etc.), the cache needs to be reset internally so that the new settings will take effect. Usually the cache is reset within the NeuCart configuration, but many factors (especially the use of multiple browsers during configuration) made this functionality necessary.
