First impressions are important. That's why NeuCart has been designed to be installed quickly and work right out of the box. After purchase, the steps to getting NeuCart working are simple. You will:

• Receive an email with a link to retrieve your software in a ZIP file.
• Unzip the file on your machine.
• Upload the software package to your server.
• Run the installation script, which takes only a minute or two and asks a couple basic questions.

That's it! Your software is ready to use after only a few minutes. After logging in to the Admin portal, there is a "getting started" link that will get you started with some configuration, hiding certain admin features you do not need while configuring some fields for you automatically.

Ever been to an ecommerce site, and you click "add to cart", and then all of a sudden you're at a completely different section of the website? Sometimes you may even be on a different website altogether!

With the NeuCart Shopping Cart System, the shopping cart remains in view the entire time the customer is shopping. Customers can intuitively drag-and-drop items right into the cart, or click the "Add to Cart" link directly from the product list page. It is also simple for customers to remove items or change quantities.

The initial design of the NeuCart Shopping Cart System was for musicians to provide digital products like sheet music and MP3s to customers easily and automatically. NeuCart allows a product to be configured as:

• An emailable file - for smaller files, like sheet music in PDF format
• A downloadable file - for larger files, like MP3s
• A collection of downloadable files - for product groups like all the mp3s of an album

Emailable products can be configured to be delivered automatically when a purchase is complete, while downloadable products are obtained by the customer via a unique URL that is provided to the customer in the order confirmation email and on the order thank you page.

For downloadable files, the unique URL does not actually point to a file, but rather to code that will verify the configuration and then provide the file to the user. Because of this, the files are never available via a direct link, and they can never be stolen from your servers. As the store owner, you determine how many times a customer can download the files, how long the product link remains active, and the locations from which the download can be attempted.

Also, for additional security of your digital products, MP3 files can have the "comment" tag altered and PDFs can be modified with a watermark to include the Order Number and Customer Name used to purchase the file.

Out of the box, the NeuCart Shopping Cart System supports these payment types:

• PayPal Website Payments Standard (both encrypted or unencrypted)
• Credit Cards through Authorize.Net
• Google Checkout
• "In-Person" Payments, for restaurants and other physical businesses who want to allow orders to be placed online but purchased later

Payment configuration is simple: just configure some options and enter your account information. More than one customer has come to NeuCart after failing to get Authorize.Net payments to work on another shopping cart system; with NeuCart, Authorize.Net works after putting information into two fields. Why should it be any harder than this?

NeuCart includes a number of methods to determine shipping calculations, based on your store's preferences:

• The customer can make a choice of shipping rate and/or carrier; these rates are calculated dynamically based on shipping conditions.
• The store can dynamically calculate shipping for the order without allowing the customer to choose.
• Each product can be configured with a fixed shipping cost.
• You can write custom code to determine your shipping costs. NeuCart provides a hook for the custom code to be called, allowing the core source code to remain untouched.

The NeuCart Shopping Cart System allows you to configure and maintain your products easily. Some notable features:

Categories

• The system allows for unlimited categories and subcategories.
• Each category or subcategory can be associated with text or HTML, allowing for a category header or a unique background image when viewing a category.
• A single product can belong to up to four categories.

General Product Management

• Products can be created by copying another product.
• Products can be bulk-edited to change the category, quantity and price fields.
• Each product can be marked as "Featured", "Coming Soon", or a "New Item".

Product Options
The NeuCart system allows for Product Options Lists to include choices like Size and Color. These lists:

• Can be created once and assigned to multiple products. This is useful when your store contains several products with the same sizing option, like "Small/Medium/Large" choices for clothes.
• Can contain both priced and unpriced options.
• Can contain options that alter the actual product being ordered, for back-end reporting purposes. For example, Small/Medium/Large options for an item called "Shirt" can make the sale report as one of the specific items, "Small Shirt", "Medium Shirt", or "Large Shirt".

NeuCart allows an unlimited number of coupons in your store, or you can turn off coupon functionality altogether so customers are not presented with an unneeded coupon entry field.

Coupon configuration includes the ability to:

• Set start/end dates for coupon availability.
• Set the number of times a single coupon can be used. (Available to the first ten customers, for example.)
• Configure coupons as "percent off" or "amount off".
• Configure coupons to apply to the entire transaction, to individual items, or to be "advanced coupons", like:
• When the cart reaches $50, shipping is free.
• When the cart contains four tee shirts, shipping is 50% off.
• Buy one CD, get another CD at half price.
• Buy four CDs, get any two songbooks at 50% off.
• Determine coupon behavior: affect shipping and/or taxes, allow other coupons, and limit coupon to one use per customer.
• Apply coupons automatically based on transaction details. (Requires some custom code)

• Recurring payments are not supported. NeuCart is designed to be a retail shopping cart, so this functionality is not currently planned.

You could buy another shopping cart, but why? Our cart comparison guide shows how NeuCart offers more features for a lower price. Some of the other carts cost hundreds of dollars per month which is truly outrageous. You can easily find some open-source shopping carts online that are advertised as "free". But are they really?

If you search through contractor websites like oDesk or Elance, you will see these sites are filled with requests by website owners who need help with these "free systems": design/integration isn't easy, certain "modules" like PayPal or Authorize.Net don't work, shipping integration isn't working, etc. These work requests are often priced at hundreds of dollars... that's an expensive free cart!
